AMC’s Immortal Universe, a series of adaptations based on the works of Anne Rice, is off to a flying start with rave reviews rolling in for the first series entry, Interview with the Vampire. Today, a new trailer for the second entry into the universe, Mayfair Witches, has been revealed, and it looks like AMC have another horror hit on their hands.

Coming just a few days after the teaser,, the new trailer for Mayfair Witches is longer, spookier and also reveals the premiere date: the series will stream exclusively on AMC+ on Thursday, January 5th 2023. Deadline also confirmed that the first two episodes will be available that same night, and subsequent episodes will rollout weekly.

The Mayfair Witches series is an adaptation of Anne Rice’s Lives of the Mayfair Witches trilogy, and focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon, Rowan, who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”

The new trailer gives us a first look at Tongayi Chirisa (Next Exit) as Ciprien Grieves, a newly named character who is based on two original characters from the novels, and will serve as a love interest for Rowan. We also get our first tiny peep at Lasher (played by House of Gucci’s Jack Huston), a powerful, shape-shifting demonic entity who haunts the Mayfairs. Alexandra Daddario (The White Lotus) stars as Rowan, who we see learning about her true identity in the new trailer.

Mad Men’s Harry Hamlin can also be seen (sporting a rather glamorous suit) as Cortland Mayfair, the patriarch of the family. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hamlin admitted that while he couldn’t make it through the 50+ hour audiobook of Witches source material, he was “absolutely fascinated by [Rice’s] writing style and her ability to pull you in as an audience into the character development.”

Mayfair Witches is written and executive produced by showrunner Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, both known for their work on Showtime’s Masters of Sex.

We’ve got a fair while to wait for Mayfair Witches, but it’s never too early to start getting excited for the witchy wonder. Take a look at the new trailer here:
