Jigsaw isn’t done with his twisted games just yet, it seems. Lionsgate has confirmed that Saw XI is officially in the works, with the sequel set to arrive just in time for the Halloween season next year. Indeed, the studio is wasting precisely zero time with the next installment set to hit theaters on September 27, 2024. Mark your calendars and plan accordingly.

Nothing by way of specifics has been confirmed. All that was said, as of this writing, is contained in the above Instagram post. We’ve got the Roman numerals, which make up the release date, as well as the caption the reads, “The game continues.” Beyond that, anything else would be pure speculation. Will Tobin Bell return as John Kramer once again? Is this going to take place after the events of Jigsaw? Or is it going to be another prequel? For the time being, we have far more questions than answers.

What we know for sure is that this year’s Saw X was a massive hit. The tenth entry in the long-running franchise served as a prequel set between the events of Saw and Saw II. That allowed for Bell to return as John Kramer, given that he’s been canonically dead since Saw III. Audiences responded kindly, with the film taking in $107 million worldwide, which makes it the highest-grossing entry in the series since 2010’s Saw 3D. That being the case, Lionsgate decided to get the lead out and make this latest sequel in a hurry.

SAW X (2023)

No word yet on who is going to be in the director’s chair for the upcoming entry but Kevin Greutert directed Saw X. He previously served as the editor of the series before stepping into the director’s chair on Saw VI, which is still widely regarded as one of the best entries in the franchise to date. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Greutert back in the saddle once again.

There’s also no word on the cast and that could go any way. If this isn’t a sequel taking place later on in the timeline, odds are, an ensemble full of mostly fresh faces would be call for. If it’s another prequel, it would surely be another chance to bring back more fan-favorites in addition to Bell. We’ll undoubtedly be learning more sooner rather than later as one assumes production would be gearing up to make that release date. Stay tuned.

Look for Saw 11 in theaters on September 27, 2024.
