Good news for fans of The Walking Dead who happen to not have cable (or some other pay-TV option that grants access to cable channels). The folks at AMC have released the entire first episode of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon for free to watch online. The spin-off starring Norman Reedus as his fan-favorite character premiered recently and it seems the network is hoping to get some viewers hooked with a free taste.
The episode is currently available to stream on YouTube with no strings attached. You don’t need to sign up for anything. You don’t need to cancel some free trial. Just watch away! The only real downside is that those who dig the show and wish to continue on as more episodes drop will have to find a way to do so, be it through an AMC+ subscription or another avenue. But at least viewers will be able to make an informed decision by watching an entire episode, rather than just a trailer or two. The synopsis for the premiere episode reads as follows:
“Daryl Dixon's arrival to France sets off a violent chain of events that inadvertently puts a young boy at the heart of a growing religious movement in danger. Daryl agrees to help shepherd the boy to safety in exchange for help returning to America.”
The Walking Dead ended its 11 season run on AMC last year. Be that as it may, the network has absolutely no intention on ending its universe based on Robert Kirkman’s much-beloved Image Comics series. Aside from this latest spin-off, they also released The Walking Dead: Dead City earlier this year, with The Ones Who Live set to debut next year. That show will bring back Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira as Michonne. Originally, that project was envisioned as a series of movies but later turned into a series.
The cast for Daryl Dixon also includes Clémence Poésy, Adam Nagaitis, Anne Charrier, Eriq Ebouaney, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi and Louis Puech Scigliuzzi. Walking Dead universe head Scott M. Gimple serves as executive producer alongside showrunner David Zabel, Reedus, Greg Nicotero, Angela Kang, Brian Bockrath, Daniel Percival and Jason Richman.
