Hot on the heels of the news that original Jurassic Park writer David Koepp is penning Universal Pictures' new Jurassic World movie, Deadline revealed late yesterday that Bullet Train director David Leitch is in talks to direct.
Plot and cast details are still under wraps, but Deadline also confirm that "the new movie will be a completely fresh take on a Jurassic era with Jurassic World cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return, nor the original trilogy’s thespians Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill."
Returning producers include Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, who oversaw the original trilogy and the reboot trilogy respectively. Steven Spielberg, who famously directed the 1993 original, is set to executive produce via his Amblin Entertainment banner.
Also returning is dino expert Dr. Steve Brusatte, who previously served as paleontology consultant on 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion.
The Jurassic World trilogy proved to be a huge hit for Universal, with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Dominion helping the entire franchise generate over $6 billion worldwide. It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that a new entry was en route, but it's exciting to know that we're getting a totally brand new take on the tale.
Alongside Bullet Train, Leitch's high-octane filmography includes Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and The Fall Guy, due to hit theaters in May.
